Trinity Parish has formed a new ministry, Listen in Love: Caring for the Minds and Hearts of Trinity and the Community.
This ministry was formed to support the parish and community in spiritual, emotional, and mental health through education and collaboration with the guidance of the Holy Spirit. One facet of our new ministry is education and awareness of suicide prevention. September has been designated as suicide prevention. Suicide is one of the leading causes of death in the U.S. and is responsible for more deaths among youth ages 10 to 24 than any single major medical illness.
How can the parish help in suicide prevention?
As we get to know our newcomers, as well as our established church friends, ask how they are. When asking from a place of concern, a powerful emotional bond can be created that may help bring someone who is struggling out of isolation and darkness to a place of feeling connected.
