On behalf of the Outreach Committee and the Tithing Outreach Grant Committee, we are pleased to announce our recipients of our 2nd Quarter 2024 grant process. These will be presented at the 10 a.m. worship service at Trinity Episcopal Church.
In 2022 Trinity launched the Tithing Outreach Grant program, to support our vision of seeking and serving Christ in all persons, loving our neighbor as ourselves, striving for justice and peace among all people, and respecting the dignity of every human being. We had an excellent response to our program in 2nd quarter of this year and we are pleased to announce 4 programs that will be receiving our funding this quarter:
They are in alphabetical order:
Project Transformation Tennessee: Founded in Dallas, TX in 1998 and launched in TN in 2012, the organization addresses three unique challenges with one program that 1)meets the academic, physical, social-emotional, and spiritual needs of children, 2) provides meaningful ways for college-age young adults to explore ministry opportunities; and 3) helps churches connect with their communities. Last year 36 college interns paired with 209 children to make this program possible, with members of Trinity involved in the process as readers and meal preparers.
Radical Mission: Based in Clarksville for over 20 years and housed at Community of Hope Nazarene Church on Richview Rd, the organization focuses on three faith-based ministries, Jubilee Garden, Warming Souls, and Giving Hope. This grant request is for Giving Hope which provides food, hygiene items, and clothing to both seniors 65+ who qualify for USDA funding and families in times of crisis or hardship.
Senior Circle of Friends Adult Day Care Center: In operation since September 2013 and associated with the Clarksville Ajax Turner 50+ Center, the organization offers low-cost supervised respite care for loved ones in a cozy, homelike setting. The grant request is to fund two remote-controlled lift chairs for participants.
Urban Ministries: Since 1994 Urban Ministries has served outreach for the United Methodist Church to empower individuals and families with food, shelter, and trauma-informed services, including temporary shelter for the homeless. This grant will continue to provide homeless shelter funding in extreme hot and cold weather conditions.
Thank you to all of you who have supported this program through your time and financial support. Please look for new volunteer opportunities for all these worthy organizations at our upcoming Rally Sunday, August 18! We look forward to continuing this good work in 2024.
